Had a thoroughly delightful tour with Jane on June 25 when I visited NYC with my nine-year-old grand-daughter's dance troupe (Joyful Motion Dance troupe from Maryland). Jane is so much fun! The girls had a fabulous time!

My very first time in New York with a bunch of my theatre friends. They go every year, and every year they do a walking tour with this wonderful woman, Jane Marx. I learned so much from her in the "pep talk" at the hotel before we even left, and then so much more on the tour. We toured the brownstone houses on the hill, and it was so fascinating. If it hadn't been for Jane's tour, I never would have thought to have gone to this part of town. It's beautiful!
And here's the thing: Jane has a passion for this place--you can tell. She loves it, learns it, studies it. She's just as intrigued by this amazing place she calls home as any one of us. And THAT is what makes her so incredible. That and her intuitiveness to her group. She makes everyone feel like it's just the two of you--like two good friends out on the town.
"Is this your first time in New York, honey?"
"Yes," I said.
The way she asked me, made me feel so at home--like I was amongst friends.

I came to New York to eat. The one qurestions I asked everyone is/was, "where do you like to eat?" I asked and she told me, and although I never got around to her recommendation, she invited me to call her personally and do lunch.
Who does that?!
This amazing person.

I wanted to compliment you on the amazing experience you created for me on the trip to New York City. It was my first time there, and I left with a great impression. I am very grateful to have had you for a tour guide! Not a second passed by that I wasn't entertained.

Just returning from a trip to New York City. The most memorable part of it might of been you. You were hilarious! Your dark sense of humor and awesome personality, made me sad when I knew it was time to go home. Never stop doing what you're doing Jane.

I remember being in New York and having an ok time and then you became our tour guide and I had the most amazing tour ever. You brought lightness to our hearts and made the funniest jokes I will ever here. And remember to keep on thinking about Big Al.

Jane, you are the most hilarious and knowledgeable NY City guide I have ever met. Thank you for sharing your love of NYC in such an entertaining, colorful and creative way! See you soon! Greetings from Brussels

I loved having you as a tour guide! Your humor and laughs made the tour so memorable! I love your style and personality, they make you who you are! Never change!

Dear Jane,
Just had to stop and write a note. Our two days with you in New York were fabulous! I have three children ages 8 to 14 and for all of us including adults, you kept us interested and moving along. That is quite a feat.
I can't wait until we can plan another trip to visit with not just the city of New York but also with you.
Take care,
Kathleen Majors, M. D.

Oh Jane,

I don't know if you remember me, you might, but by the name "mom". You gave my senior class and i a tour of New York. Best tour ever. You are full of knowledge, i think you know New York better than New York knows itself. Manhattan is a beautiful place, and you made it that much more amazing to me after the tour. I listened more than you noticed. You are absolutely fantastic!

I enjoyed my 8th grade middle school trip to New York much more when you were there to join us and be one of the most vibrant, fun, and comical tour guides out there! I remember the first words you spoke to most of my friends when we fisrt met you at breakfast, it was merely telling us to wake up but then you added to some of our scared and confused faces that you werent some wack job stranger you were our new tour guide! Many of us were skeptical at first thinking: "Who is this lady?!" but once we got to hear you talk and tell us your perspective of New York, it seemed that your personality had some similar characteristics as ours! I'm sure ever single person on this trip had a laugh here and there just because of you. The last day of our trip, right after you had left, you were the talk of the bus! My friend had turned to me when you walked off the bus and said:" I DIDNT GET A PICTURE WITH HER!" Also when all of us had reached our parents at the airport, you were of course our first story to tell! In addition, this was my first time traveling anywhere by plane/to a different state and i'll just say that i will definetly remember your tour forver. Thabk You Jane!

Dearest Jane,
I appreciate the tour you gave us, as well as all the wise words you gave to me along the way. You are such a flamboyant and incredible person to have met, even for such a short amount of time. We loved the tour, and I hope you still are successful. Please know that you are one person I will never forget in my life, solely because of your determination and passion for writing, as well as the words you lent to me that I have taken to heart. Great blog, keep living! xo, Haley

We recently schlepped 80 plus HS students and parents to New York for our 2nd major festival trip. The highlight of our visit was our guided day with Jane as our tour guide!!! She was amazing and I'll never forget it. I hope to request her for all of our NYC trips in the future. Would have loved to spend another day with her!

Picture it Spring Break ... a group of middle grade Idahoians travel to NYC for the trip of their lives.... when out of no where JANE comes out, one of New Yorks finest!!! And they all lived happily ever after!... The moral of this story is that Jane made my trip 10x better! She was the absolute best! And with her teaming up with Big Al our bus driver; it turned out to be a trip of epic proportion!! Thank you for the awesome times!!!!!

Dear Jane,
What a great morning our Kansas City YPO chapter had with you in the Big Apple. Provocatour seems all together appropriate! You left, and you were the subject of several conversations over the next couple of days. Suffice it to say that we all loved you. Thank you for showing us such a great time. You are a remarkably gifted, knowledgeable, and joyful human being. Truly the world is a better place because you have lived. If you are ever in Kansas City, I hope you'll call.

I heard you on NPR -oh my god -I have never forgotten as a young travel agent, probably in the early 1980s my TWA FAM trip to New York from SF and your guided tour" tip to the top". I dont think I have ever laughed so hard and had such a good time and learned so much ..I often wondered what happened to you and hoped you were still doing this and you still are-wow.

We have been coming to New York City with our high school seniors for 24 years and were not completely satisfied with our guides. One agency that does not give all day general tours recommended Jane to us. What a find! Jane did an outstanding job, sharing her New Yorker spirit, sharing interesting information all in an entertaining, spirited way. Her interaction with the students, and adults too, was fantastic. Everyone stayed awake the entire day. This was our best tour in 24 years. Jane's tours are truly "character driven."

Jane, I've been to New York City a few times in my life, but, my tour with you is one of my great NYC memories that stick out above the rest. You and that beautiful city are forever linked in my mind. I don't know when I'll be visiting the city next, but I'll try my darndest to incorporate a Jane Marx tour into the trip.

You are a wonderful woman Jane Marx and, four years after your tour, I still think of you fondly.

Peace and love to you!

You absolutely blew us away with your Urban Performance! Your humor, knowledge, and "inside info" on our favorite city seemed to be the highlight of the trip for all of our 'Steel Magnolias'! No one wanted you to leave!

On April 2 you led a tour of NYC. I was on with 18 boys from Belen Jesuit Preparatory School in Miami. We had just come from two days in Boston and spent two days in Washington after being in NYC. By a unanimous vote you were chosen the tour guide who provided the most information, historical perspective, insight, wit, laughs, and flare. For that day you became the voice of New York City and our stay was enriched all the more because of you. Thank you for your outstanding work. We thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciate you.

I'm sure you know what a character you are, and how entertaining you are. However, it is your knowledge of history and fascinating anecdotes that really set you apart...We have never experienced a tour that was so much fun.

I don't believe I have had such a wonderful experience before. You are so dynamic and such a special person. I enjoyed the tour so much, would/could spend a entire week with you!

Thanks for making me feel confident on the streets and subways.
